Safeguarding the Snake River with ProFlex™ Check Valves

wp052324_Proco_Page_1.jpgThis paper details the successful upgrade of Ontario, Oregon's wastewater treatment plant to enhance the safety and efficiency of its effluent discharge into the Snake River. Facing population growth and increasingly stringent environmental regulations, the plant required a new system to minimize ammonia discharges and maximize its mixing capacity. Proco Products, Inc., in collaboration with CONSOR Engineers, LLC, and Ballard Marine Construction, responded by developing a multi-port diffuser system using ProFlex™ Style 710-E Flanged Duckbill Check Valves, which became operational on November 1, 2023. With low cracking pressure (1” – 2”) and a unique duckbill design, Proco’s ProFlex™ Style 710-E Flanged Duckbill Check Valves proved crucial for the project for their robust construction and adaptability to a wide range of flow rates and operating pressure. Their maintenance-free, Neoprene-based construction as well as their installation flexibility allowed customization for the specific diffuser orientation, ensuring seamless integration with the system. This upgraded system allows the Ontario WWTP to reliably serve its customers while protecting the delicate Snake River ecosystem.
