October and November 2020

Community outreach is a growing need in the water sector.  As part of their final project, the Water Leadership Institute (WLI) 2020 cohort has developed a five part webcast series focusing on different aspects of the water industry and developed outreach activities for different age groups that you can use in your own community.  Join us for part or all of the series to learn how to better connect with your community and bring in the next generation of water professionals.

This series has information and outreach activities on the following topics:

  • Aging Infrastructure
  • Public Education
  • Aging Workforce
  • Public Awareness
  • One Water


This series was developed as part of the final project for the Water Leadership Institute (WLI) 2020 and will take place throughout October and November 2020.  The WLI 2020 consists of 52 participants from around the US and Canada.  Each webcast will focus on one overarching topic with activities for two different age groups.

The Future is Now

This two-part webinar engages the water sector to raise public awareness of water issues amongst elementary and college-aged students.  It will start with where to find and how to engage elementary students in exploring topics including global water distribution, the sources of water, the scarcity of water, how water is used in industrial, manufacturing and agricultural applications, water pollution, flooding, water challenges and water opportunities.  It will then demonstrate how we, as an industry, can share with the public a full range of opportunities for a massive assortment of career types and backgrounds.

One Water: Our Water, Your Water

The One Water Webcast will provide water professionals with specific content they can use to educate youth aged 5-14 about water in all of its forms. Our mission is to help you spread awareness about the value of water emphasizing its finite availability, its impact on our daily lives and its ability to connect people around the world.
