Utility of the Future Today Frequently Asked Questions 

 

Q: Who is eligible to apply for the recognition program?

A:  Public and private water sector utilities of all sizes that can demonstrate achievement of the application requirements are encouraged to apply.  

Q: How do I apply? 

A:  Utilities can access the UotFT 2020 application by clicking the link 2020 Utilty of the Future Today application form or 2020 Utilty of the Future application form in Word formatApplicants should fill out the application and submit it on this online platform https://wef.secure-platform.com/a/solicitations/96/home.

Q: Is there a cost to apply for recognition? 

A: No! The Recognition Program is free of cost to participants.

 

Q: When are the 2020 applications due?

A:  Applications are due by 5:00 pm Eastern Time on Friday, July 17, 2020.

 

Q: What if I have questions about eligibility or the application?

Q:  What format is required? 

A: Applicants can complete the application form and submit via the Open Water platform as either a Word document or a PDF.  

 

Q: Can I include attachments with my application? 

A:  Attachments, including graphics, charts, or additional materials will NOT be accepted as part of an application package. However, a photograph is requested in the online portion of the application.

 

Q: When will applicants be informed if we’re selected?

A:  Applicants will be informed if they’re selected for recognition on or before August 14, 2020, by email or phone. A ceremony will be held at WEFTEC 2020 in New Orleans, Louisiana on October 5, 2020, to celebrate recognition recipients. Applicants are not required to attend WEFTEC to receive recognition. Selected utilities will receive a Utility of the Future Today flag to proudly hang/fly as well as a certificate.

 

Q: What recognition will successful applicants receive? 

A: The Program Partners will host a ceremony at WEFTEC 2020 in New Orleans, Louisiana on October 5, 2020, to celebrate recognition recipients. Applicants are not required to attend WEFTEC to receive recognition. Selected utilities will receive a Utility of the Future Today flag to proudly hang/fly as well as a certificate.
