Conference Co-Chairs Blog about the Collection Systems Experience

As co-chairs of the upcoming Collection Systems Conference 2018 in remarkable Virginia Beach, we marvel at the real energy these conferences have in the local community. It has been heartening to see so many collection experts from everywhere, especially here, putting their efforts into a single purpose, and especially powerful to know that so many of these passionate folks call tidewater Virginia home. If there is one thing that we will take away from this, it is that water professionals sure know how to plan an event!

With over 13 technical sessions focused on collection systems, how could you not find something that you like? That might be why expectations have far surpassed planning with more people attending this year’s meeting of the minds than was originally believed. Personally, we are excited for the near capacity Sunday workshops, A & B, that will delve into topics such as rain gauge placement, flow monitoring, scattergraphs, program performance, and hydrologic modeling, to name a few. Attendees will join us from Canada, Singapore, Guam and 38 of the states. It’s high time to sign up if you haven’t already.

From sewer oddities to amazing exhibitors, this conference might have it all. Don’t miss the Mobile Sessions (Monday and Tuesday) highlighting new products, as well as emerging technologies and topics. This might be the first conference where people skip the beach and go to the sessions. Or maybe this will be the first conference people do both. Hope to see you there!
