“Chhipi-Shrestha et al. developed a framework to assess the sustainability performance of urban water and wastewater systems, especially as it relates to small to medium-sized systems,” said Tim Ellis, WER editor-in-chief. “Their ranking system allows users to not only evaluate existing systems, but to assess the sustainability of future systems as well. A total of 38 performance indicators spanning technical, environmental, economic, social and institutional aspects were selected for inclusion in the framework.
