On Feb. 26, the full House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee held a hearing, “Examining How Federal Infrastructure Policy Could Help Mitigate and Adapt to Climate Change. The purpose of this hearing is to examine the role the transportation sector plays in global warming, understand the dual track approach of mitigation and resiliency, and learn from individuals in the public and private sectors whom have demonstrated pragmatic solutions for reducing carbon emissions and building resilient infrastructure.

The witness group included a panel focused on ways to mitigate the effects of climate change, by reducing carbon emissions to reduce the accumulation of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and another panel, which included James M. Proctor, Senior Vice President & General Counsel of McWane Inc. and WEF member, that focused on addressing how to make infrastructure more resilient and protect people, infrastructure, and ecosystems from the impacts of climate change.
