On July 25, EPA held a working and a listening session in Horsham, PA, to hear from affected by toxic nonstick chemicals, known as Per – and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances or PFAS, at the agency's second public meeting on the topic.  Horsham has struggled with PFAS contamination suspected to be linked to firefighting foam used at nearby military installations.

The "community engagement" meeting featured remarks from Region 3 Administrator Cosmo Servidio and Peter Grevatt, Director of EPA’s Office of Ground Water and Drinking Water and updated residents on ongoing PFAS research.  Local government township officials and water authorities also provided insight.  A copy of the agenda is available here.

Last month, EPA held a similar engagement in New Hampshire, and a new one is scheduled for August 7 in Colorado Springs, CO.  If you are interested in participating in a community engagement, but are unable to attend, EPA recommends you submit written comments at http://www.regulations.gov: enter Docket ID No. EPA-OW-2018-0270. Individuals that are attending are also encouraged to send written statements to the public docket.  If you are interested in attending the engagement in Colorado Springs, please register in advance.
