February 9, 2018 - In the early morning hours of February 9th, the House and Senate both voted on and passed deal including a continuing resolution (CR) to keep the government operating through March 23rd following a brief shutdown.    Read more to find out what's in the bill.

The deal raises spending caps on both domestic and military spending and would keep the government funded for six more weeks so lawmakers can put together a long-term spending bill for the rest of the fiscal year.  It also provides nearly $90 million in disaster aid for Puerto Rico, Florida, and Texas among other areas.  The disaster aid package includes recommendations from WEF and others in the water sector.

The House and Senate were originally expected to vote Thursday on the measure, which would boost federal spending by about $300 billion over two years.   But Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky) held a day-long protest, delaying votes to early Friday over concerns with budget caps and the debt limit.  (PoliticoPRO, 2/9/18)
