This year the WEFTEC Bookstore will host two authors to sign copies of their books. Visitors also can take advantage of expert demonstrations of Access Water, the Water Environment Federation’s technical content platform. On top of that, 16 new or updated water quality titles will be on display and available for purchase.

The Global Center offers a space for learning about global water issues offering two days of programming including presentations and panel discussions of global interest with topics ranging from energy efficiency to global water stewardship.

Each year WEFTEC attracts the leading experts from throughout the water sector on every topic imaginable. And that includes you. Others want to hear your insights and understand things from your perspective.

For the first time ever, we will broadcast live from WEFTEC. This programming will give everyone, everywhere the chance to sample some of the best of WEFTEC.

We also know that not everyone who wants to join us will be able to. To help bridge that gap and provide a sense of the action happening live in Chicago, we have designed this free, open access portal.

Be sure to visit the new Drinking Water Pavilion and SDG 6 Theater! This new spot in the exhibition will feature insights into all aspects of the one-water universe from drinking water to community capacity, water resources management, and circular economy.

Since 2012, the Water Environment Federation (WEF; Alexandria, Virginia) has partnered with BlueTech Research (Cork, Ireland) and Imagine H2O (San Francisco) to spotlight some of the water sector’s most promising innovators. Through this partnership, WEFTEC has become the epicenter of a unique platform for entrepreneurs, investors, customers, and regulators to highlight and access the newest technologies driving the water sector forward.

WEFTEC 2021 will host the ninth annual Operator Ingenuity Contest awards ceremony on Wednesday, October 20. The previous 8 years of this competition have led to 47 award-winning ideas. In 2021, five more entries will be added to the ranks of those who found simple, applicable solutions to make their job easier and safer.

At the July 2021 meeting of the American Association of Plant Food Control Officials (AAPFCO; Arlington, Virginia), the organization recognized a new method to measure water-extractable phosphorus (WEP) for fertilizer products. The results from this method highlight the slower release of phosphate-phosphorus from biosolids-based (and other carbon-based) products. AAPFCO also determined that making labeling claims of slowly available phosphate for carbon-based products was allowable.

The documentary, “Brave Blue World,” will make its in-person WEFTEC debut on Monday, October 18. Come to a screening of this documentary, which paints an optimistic picture of how humanity is adopting new technologies and innovations for a sustainable water future.

On Sunday, August 8, by a vote of 68 to 29, the U.S. Senate cleared a final procedural hurdle to pass the Infrastructure Investment & Jobs Act (H.R. 3684), which will provide nearly $1.2 trillion in funding for the nation’s infrastructure. Approximately, $550 billion of the total is new funding to be spent over the next five years. Sunday’s vote sets in motion the final vote to pass the bill late Monday night or Tuesday morning.

On Tuesday, August 10, the U.S. Senate voted 69 to 30 to pass this bill.

A preliminary class action lawsuit settlement between the Charleston Water System (Charleston, South Carolina) and wipes manufacturer Kimberly-Clark could affect any entity that owned and/or operated wastewater conveyance and treatment systems since January 6, 2018. Class members need to be aware of this settlement and how it may affect them.
