Introducing organic waste into existing wastewater treatment facility generates alternative revenue which ease burden to rate payers and beneficial impact to the climate change.  However, it can add unintended operational and maintenance challenges. This webcast is designed to help facility operation and maintenance staffs along with other stake holders to become an operation and maintenance campaign. This webcast will focus on hands-on experiences that emphasize the operation strategies, true costs model, carbon neutrality, pre-treatment challenges, feed automation, and unplanned mechanical equipment failures.

Presentations:

  • Evaluation of Existing Source Separated Organic Feedstock Pre-Treatment and Management Practices by Tom Darby (Hermitage Municipal Authority) and Derya Dursun (Hazen and Sawyer).
  • NYCDEP Newton Creek WRRF Co-digestion Case Study by Jane Atkinson Gajwani (DEP Office of Energy and Resource Recovery Programs).
  • Kenneth W. Hotz WRF Medina OH Case Study by Dawn Taylor (Medina Co. Sanitary Engineers).
