Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WaSH) Tools & Resources
WEF provides water education throughout the world. Because most of WEF’s traditional educational materials deal with high income countries, the Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WaSH) subcommittee of the WEF Disinfection & Public Health committee provides some information on water and sanitation for sustainable development and emergencies. WEF also would like to point WEF members to other organizations’ information that will help support this mission. One great source of information is the Water, Engineering and Development Centre (WEDC), at Loughborough University one of the world's leading education and research institutes for developing knowledge and capacity in water and sanitation for sustainable development and emergency relief.
Founded in 1971, WEDC is based in the School of Civil and Building Engineering at Loughborough University, one of the top UK universities. WEDC publications are a unique body of knowledge in water and sanitation for sustainable development and emergencies in low- and middle-income countries. Developed over 45 years, WEDC continues to produce accessible materials to meet the needs and demands for knowledge from policymakers to practitioners, all available to download free of charge.
