While some of the details and full descriptions are still being worked out, you can get a first look at what's in store for WEFTEC 2022 in New Orleans.

On Saturday, October 16, the WEF Students and Young Professionals Committee organized and completed the 13th Annual WEFTEC Community Service Project, Life Is Better By the Lake. The project took place at 12th Street Beach on Northerly Island in Chicago.

The Global Center offers a space for learning about global water issues offering two days of programming including presentations and panel discussions of global interest with topics ranging from energy efficiency to global water stewardship.

Be sure to visit the new Drinking Water Pavilion and SDG 6 Theater! This new spot in the exhibition will feature insights into all aspects of the one-water universe from drinking water to community capacity, water resources management, and circular economy.

The documentary, “Brave Blue World,” will make its in-person WEFTEC debut on Monday, October 18. Come to a screening of this documentary, which paints an optimistic picture of how humanity is adopting new technologies and innovations for a sustainable water future.

We are excited to announce that WEFTEC will be held in person this October 16 to 20 in Chicago.

November 19 is World Toilet Day, the annual reminder about the importance of sanitation to health, communities, the environment, and the economy. While the day organized by the United Nations (UN) is an opportunity to celebrate how much the toilet has done for civilization, it also serves as a stark reminder that over 4 billion people live without access to safety managed sanitation.

Sonja Michaluk is a high school student and the winner of the 2019 U.S. Stockholm Junior Water Prize, the nation’s most prestigious youth competition for water-related research. In this episode Sonja discusses how she explored the use of DNA barcoding to measure the health of waterways with larval Chironomidae, the most widespread macroinvertebrate family. She talks about her interest in the intersection of science and public policy and making data the language of debate. Sonja tells how her research caused a town board to change the planned path of a roadway to avoid a healthy creek.

The Water Environment Federation is pleased to offer a self-reported certificate and ribbon to WEFTEC attendees who attend at least three technical sessions related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
