On March 9, negotiators in the U.S. Congress agreed to a final fiscal year 22 (FY22) Omnibus Appropriations package that will fund the federal government through the remainder of this fiscal year, which ends on September 30, 2022.

On March 8, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released a new memo outlining its strategy to equitably deliver clean water through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The memo underscores provisions to ensure that disadvantaged communities fully benefit from these historic investments in the water sector.

On January 31, 2022, the White House released a comprehensive guidebook on the funding programs in the Infrastructure Investment & Jobs Act (IIJA), also known as the bipartisan infrastructure package.

On Friday, November 5, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Infrastructure Investment & Jobs Act (H.R. 3684). This bill will provide nearly $1.2 trillion in funding for the nation’s infrastructure.

The federal district court in Charleston, South Carolina, has given “preliminary approval” to a proposed Class Action Settlement regarding wipe products between Plaintiff Charleston Water System and Defendant Kimberly-Clark Corporation.

On Sunday, August 8, by a vote of 68 to 29, the U.S. Senate cleared a final procedural hurdle to pass the Infrastructure Investment & Jobs Act (H.R. 3684), which will provide nearly $1.2 trillion in funding for the nation’s infrastructure. Approximately, $550 billion of the total is new funding to be spent over the next five years. Sunday’s vote sets in motion the final vote to pass the bill late Monday night or Tuesday morning.

On Tuesday, August 10, the U.S. Senate voted 69 to 30 to pass this bill.

A preliminary class action lawsuit settlement between the Charleston Water System (Charleston, South Carolina) and wipes manufacturer Kimberly-Clark could affect any entity that owned and/or operated wastewater conveyance and treatment systems since January 6, 2018. Class members need to be aware of this settlement and how it may affect them.
