In a SBR plant why would ammonia readings increase during the end of the settle mode and continue to increase during the decant?

Here are a few things you might want to check:

  • Are your valves closing all the way?
  • Do you tanks leak between reactors?
  • Are you nitrifying completely before going to settle?
  • Is your settle time excessive?
  • Is your pH between 6.5 and 7.5?
  • Does your nitrates increase or decrease between react and settle?
  • Does the D.O. decrease rapidly after react?
  • Is your influent ammonia above 70 mg/l?
  • Is your TKN above 90 mg/l?
  • Do you have an accumulation of debris in the tanks?
