Water Arabia 2013

4 – 6 February 2013
SEEF Center
Khobar, Saudia Arabia

Total water consumption in the Arabian Peninsula has recently grown 40 percent from 24.3 billion cubic meters in 1997 to 34.1 billion cubic meters in 2007. The projected 42% population growth in the Arabian Peninsula from 38 million in 2010 to 54 million in 2025, will greatly increase potable water consumption. In Saudi Arabia alone, potable water demand is expected to double from 5.5 million cubic meters per day to over 11 billion cubic meters per day in the next 20 years. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Region need innovative water and wastewater technologies to sustain this growth. According to the ARAB News, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Water and Electricity expects to spend $50 billion for water desalination projects and $50 billion for wastewater treatment plants and networks over the next 15 years.
