It is being recommended we control our chlorine with a Strantrol 960 ORP controller with 880 HRR probes. Anyone have experience with this system?

Also, we are not big fans of a "black box" PID doing the work and would much rather control through our SCADA system. Has anyone tried this?

My experience with chlorine disinfection is that a constant dose of chlorine is the best way to disinfect wastewater, especially the higher the organic nitrogen in the effluent. SCADA can dose a constant rate and the lab data will tell you what that rate should be. You might have to increase the dosage if the flow increases as the contact time will be less.

We used ORP for dechlorination control last year to minimize the sulfite feed and it worked well. After storing the probe over winter the operators could never get it to work the summer. We just feed extra sulfite.

Strantrol 690 with HRR excellent make sure you have self clean otherwise you have to lift the probe and do it manually. Saves alot in Cl2 depending on the amount used presently, great for checking how well your Oxidizing in the Aeration Tank. Set point 450 mv.
