Laboratory Management and Technical Issues
I'm looking for a commonly accepted procedure for foaming tests. Any advice will be appreciated.
Also, are there independent labs who can conduct the tests?
You are not very specific as to foaming. Is this the ability/capacity for a high solids sample (mixed liquor, digester) or influent/effluent stream sample to foam and cause settling issues and subsequently loss of solids? If it is then get a hold of Dr. Jenkins et al, "Causes and Control of Activated Sludge Bulking, Foaming, and Other Solids Separation Problems", 3rd Edition, Lewis Publishers, ISBN No. 1-56670-647-5. The manual has several techniques you can use to determine foaming of specific samples.
