Operation and Maintenance
We have recently removed an aeration tank from service due to the loss of a major food processor in town. I have filled it half full with plant effluent to relieve some of the pressure against the 14" reinforced concrete wall that it has in common with the aeration tank in service next to it. Both tanks are 15' deep and 68' square. We are in a northern climate.
My question is do I need to worry about the ice that forms on the surface of the off line tank pushing on and cracking the common wall. If so, what is a possible remedy. Is there anyone in a similar situation?
Moving water has a harder time freezing, floating mech aerators, etc, anything that might keep the water moving should help.
