ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Jan. 8, 2025 – On Thursday, January 9, 2025, we will be honoring the legacy of President Jimmy Carter, whose contributions to our nation and the world have left an indelible mark on history. While this day has been declared a National Day of Mourning in his memory, our office will remain open with regular operating hours (8:30 AM – 5 PM ET).
President Carter’s leadership, humanitarian work, and commitment to peace and justice serve as an enduring example of service and compassion. Beyond his presidency, he dedicated decades of his life to promoting human rights, eradicating diseases such as Guinea worm, and advocating for affordable housing through his work with Habitat for Humanity. His efforts to foster peace, monitor elections, and improve global health have transformed countless lives and remain a testament to his unwavering dedication to making the world a better place.
In recognition of President Carter’s extraordinary achievements and to observe the Day of Mourning, we encourage everyone to take a moment during the day to reflect on his considerable impact. While our office will remain open, we acknowledge the importance of paying tribute to such a distinguished leader.
