STEMpath

Links scholars in undergraduate/graduate degree STEM programs with career opportunities.

This scholarship opportunity engages participants in WEF programs and events to:

1. Solidify their interest in working in the water sector; and​
2. Increase probabilities for employment and long-term success working in water.

InFLOW launched at WEFTEC 2018 and provided travel assistance, hotel accommodations, registration, and additional networking opportunities to 16 students from 3 universities. At WEFTEC 2019, InFLOW expanded to include the Emerging Water Quality Scholars program, which now makes up the current two program tracks: CareerTech and STEMpath. Since 2018, InFLOW has hosted over 300 scholars between the two tracks!

WEF Member Associations (MAs) have expressed interest in a similar program at their local annual conferences. Since 2019, several MAs have taken steps to implement their own programs. MAs with an InFLOW program at their local conference include:

• Illinois WEA – InFLOW STEMpath since 2019 at their IWPC Annual Conference
• New England WEA – InFLOW STEMpath & CareerTech at NEWEA Annual Conference
• New York WEA – InFLOW CareerTech at NYWEA Spring Meeting since 2024 & InFLOW STEMpath at NYWEA Annual Meeting since 2022
• Virginia WEA – InFLOW STEMpath at the WaterJam Conference since 2022
• WEA of Texas – InFLOW STEMpath at Texas Water since 2022 
• Pennsylvania WEA – InFLOW at PennTec starting 2026
• Pacific Northwest Clean Water Association – InFLOW affiliate since 2019
