The WEFTEC 2019 Career Fair will offer students, young professionals, and everyone else an opportunity to connect with some of the water sector’s biggest employers.

The Students and Young Professionals Career Fair will include engineering, communication, and administrative jobs as well as skills training. With 19 employers attending, a wide variety of jobs will be available.

“Everything generally offered at a utility or consulting firm will be there,” said WEF Association Engagement Manager Brad Lovett. “There will be an engineering emphasis for jobs, but a wide range that includes the breadth of the water sector — like communications and administration.”

Skills development is also an important part of the fair.

“We’ll be sharing info regarding employment, internships, apprenticeships, and general information on the best ways for students to prepare for the water workforce post-college graduation. We hope to help many young professionals looking for a lateral or vertical employement move,” said Lovett.

The InFlow: CareerTech track, a “cohort of 16 promising youths ages 18 to 35” will meet with utilities to learn about operator positions, internships, apprenticeships and other opportunities.

Lovett said there will be 15 major consulting firms at the Career Fair, including AECOM, Black & Veatch, RJN Group, Inc. and Stantec. There will also be four utilities — the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Chicago, Clean Water Services (Hillsboro, Ore.), Los Angeles County Sanitation District, and Johnson County (Kansas) Water. Six WEF technical committees also will be at the Career Fair to recruit new members.

There will be four separate interview spaces. “Bring hard copies of a resume and be ready for a potential interview,” Lovett said.
