Dec. 4, 2017 — On November 29th, the Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee approved two nominees for top environmental posts, although the timing of their final votes is still unclear. Other environmental picks are still waiting for the full Senate to act. (Bloomberg BNA, 11/29/17)

Previously, on November 8th, the Senate EPW Committee held a hearing on the nominations of Kathleen Hartnett White to Chair the Council on Environmental Quality and Andrew Wheeler to be Deputy Administrator of the EPA.  While Wheeler's testimony and questions took a more bipartisan tone, Hartnett White raised flags among Democrats with her remarks on climate change - particularly that she has "doubts" about the link between human activity and climate change.  Some Republicans, at the same time, also criticized Hartnett White for her statements criticizing the Renewable Fuels Standard, or RFS.
