| | Hey Group, Anyone try these Cellinite BioTabs? We have a lift station with a small grease problem. I'm looking for a low cost solution. Liquid citrus based degreaser is just too expensive and only softens up the grease, doesn't keep it suspended (not that I'd really want the problem moved down stream). Thanks, Chris

| | Believe me when I tell you. None of it is cost effective or really works to your expectations. The closest thing I have found was Jetfoam. You add it to your sewer cleaning maching(jetter) It mixes and suspends the grease so it will pump downstream. They claim it will never come out of suspension. But me, I prefer to have it vacummed out and added to the sludge in the digester. The anaerobic digester seems to love it. |

| We have found none of the products work very well at all. We have used Dukes Root Control's Jet Power II product. We have an injector pump that injects the Jet Power II into the suction side of our water pump. We then use the combination water nozzel and spray the grease which is floating in the wet well and the Jet Power II dissolves the grease. This however, wil be needed again depending on how much grease that comes into the station. The only other idea is to find the source of the grease and deal with it at the source via a FOG program.

I've seen various belt-type oil pickup devices work on oil, such as vegetable or petroleum oils. I don't know if they would work on the grease found in sewer lift stations. The "belts" are sometimes actually plastic tubing, or plastic mops. Of course, somebody would need to collect the material that the belt system removes from the wetwell.

| | Chris I have been using the biotabs for 3+years and we have several applications, 1. We receive flow from a nearby town 1.36MGD and their force main (+4.miles) develops H2S, >200ppm. We issued a NOV to the town and required to treat the flow to reduce H2S. They tested many products and this biotab was the best at reducing the odors at a reasonable price. They now add tabs daily into the pump station wet-well, monitoring is perform 2/wk and reading are 0-2ppm. 2. With positive results we meet with the supplier Aqua Dynamic Solution to look at other application here at our plant, and started using a aqua puck in our primary grease tank adding 6lbs/wk, aerated the tank for 1 hr, then the next day decant water from the tank. We are only able to collect grease, and in the past had to have the tank pumped out 4/yrs at a cost of 12-15K. Now we have it pumped out 1/yr and reduce that expanse by 70%. 3. We add the same pucks to our flygt submersible pump station wet-wells to control grease buildup in these wet-wells with good results, it has not worked on our larger dry pit stations, maybe to much flow passing through those stations. 4. We tried adding the pucks in our plant side-stream (press filtrate) to help control odors at our headworks with some good results 3lbs per dewatering operation. check out this web site http://www.aquapucks.com/ these are the people we get our product from. | | Yes, I have heard of Cellinite Biotabs and used it to get rid of odour. However, the company's website is www.biotabs.net, not the aquapuck company listed on the blog. I think they are just a distributor of Cellinite Biotabs or something like that. www.biotabs.net is the original company that developed and patented the product. Works really well! |
