Does anyone know where to locate the possible byproducts of extruding pellets from the following components?

ethylene vinyl acetate, boral fly ash, carbon black, and stearic acid. 

I am beginning the permitting process with a plastics company that is coming into town.  These are the raw materials they will be combining together to make the final product they will ship out.  I know there will be VOC's and that I need to check for cyanide, lead, and zinc.  Are there any exotic volatiles that need especial monitoring?  The general manager is beginning some baseline sampling at other facilities to create a data package to assist in permitting.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You should ask for MSDSs for all products that they will use at the plant. Will they use any solvents to clean the machines? Are there any plasticisers such as phthalates? What catalysts (heavy metals) used in making the polymer that may remain? What are the heavy metals in the fly ash? Is there any vinyl monomer (carcinogen)?

I would suggest a semi volatiles and volatiles GC/MS scan if you want to profile the existing site for organics. Metals are difficult, as for some like mercury and cadmium you may not detect in a normal industrial waste scan (try ICP/MS). But this way can be hit and miss, as it depends what is in the wastewater at the time of the sample.

Lead and zinc are state mandated at our POTW and so get monitored at all of our SIU's.  Copper is another metal that gets monitored everywhere.  At this point in time the plastics facility definitely will be testing for TSS since the fly ash is difficult to keep from getting everywhere.  Carbon black probably will be a minimal issue since it is pelletized and used in small amounts.  Stearic acid's impact likewise will be minimal due to small volumes used.  Volatiles discharged into the air within the extrusion equipment seem to be the greatest potential source of contaminants and will come into contact with water within the vacuum system.  The only other source of contamination could be in the carrying/cooling water system at the very end of the extrusion process when the finished pellets are carried away from the extruder to a pellet separator.  At this point in time it is an unknown as to what shall show up in testing, other than the coal fly ash.  Start-up day for the extruder is March 19th, that is when the true fun begins!
