| | I need some guidance on what type of explosion proof equipment would be needed in a sludge centrifuge room. Is ventilation sufficient,or is explosion proof equiptment needed,or do we need to explosion proof the whole room? Who would have the regs or guidance on this. Tried searching OSHA, but no luck. |

I'm not sure what standard practice is for sludge-handling rooms, in terms of requiring explosion-proof to actually prevent sparking. However, the levels of hydrogen sulfide might require some form of higher rating on electrical components just to prevent damage inside electrical devices and cabinets. Any copper components will turn black from copper sulfide almost instantaneously.
