The Mininert® line of valves for syringes and laboratory glassware features push-button operation. Valve bodies are polytetrafluoroethylene with a stainless steel stem. The valves add 250-psi sample storage capability to a standard Pressure-Lok® or Luer hub syringe. These add-on valves allow samples to be pressurized just prior to the injection, yielding better resolution. VICI Precision Sampling (Baton Rouge, La.).
The new EchoTherm™ SC20XT and SC25XT models have a 30-day countdown timer with alarm and auto-off, data logger, and RS232 I/O port for data logging or controlling the units from a computer. The SC20XT is a simple digital unit, while the SC25XT is fully programmable. Both are designed for use with biological and other samples, and both have a temperature range from –20°C to 100°C. They incorporate a variable-speed orbital shaker for mixing and controlling the temperature of samples simultaneously. Torrey Pines Scientific Inc. (San Marcos, Calif.).
Hot Plates, Stirrers
This new line of analog hot plates, stirrers, and stirring hot plates features large 12-in.-square heater tops in a choice of ceramic or milled-flat cast aluminum. The temperature range is to 450°C with stirring of aqueous solutions up to 10 L from 100 to 1500 rpm. The units can support more than 50 lb on the plate surface, and they are designed to keep spills out of the chassis. All controls are mounted well in front of the heater surface to protect the user against accidental burns. Torrey Pines Scientific Inc. (San Marcos, Calif.).
Shaft Wrench Flats
These new shaft wrench flats are for use with Elima-Matic® and Ultra-Matic pumps. They allow for faster disassembly of the diaphragm plates from the main shaft. They also are designed to prevent shaft damage and eliminate the need for special tools or disassembly methods. Several models, for use with short, standard, and long main shafts, will be available soon. Versa-Matic® Pump (Export, Pa.).
These cranes and components are designed to be safe for overhead lifting applications in wastewater treatment plants and other industrial settings. Hoists and cranes cover a wide range of lifting capacities, hoist duty groups, and bridge and trolley types for applications up to 80 tons. Konecranes America (Springfield, Ohio).
The FRX pump series consists of six models available in five sizes ranging from 0.5 in. to 1.25 in. Available AC motors range from 0.5 to 1.5 hp, and DC motors are offered in both 12-V and 24-V versions. The FRX series features type 316 stainless steel construction, with a polyphenylene sulfide offering in the 0.5-in. size. MP Pumps (Fraser, Mich.).
These oil–water separators are designed to help facilities comply with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s regulations for the proper treatment and discharge of contaminated stormwater runoff. They are designed to reduce the level of oil, grease, and oily coated solids discharged. The Corella® inclined parallel-plate coalescer combines the features of both a flat-plate coalescer and a corrugated-plate coalescer into a new “self-cleaning” design. Highland Tank (Stoystown, Pa.).
This new line of apparel features high-visibility and enhanced-visibility garments. The work wear meets standards of the American National Standard for High-Visibility Safety Apparel (ANSI) 107–2004. Many of the garments feature 3M™ Scotchlite™ Reflective Material. Options include a long-sleeve pocket T-shirt, ANSI long-sleeve T-shirt, mesh vest, adjustable mesh vest, and packable vest. Williamson-Dickie Manufacturing Co. (Fort Worth, Texas).
Portable Digital Counter
This new key-chain–wrist-strap–carabiner digital counter is designed for ease of use and fail-safe counting. Features include display count to 99,999, 2-year constant-use battery, water-resistant O-ring seal with shock-resistant plastic case, button click for count confirmation, and recessed “no accident” reset. It measures 1.875 in. by 0.5 in. and weighs less than 1 oz. Control Co. (Friendswood, Texas).
