Valvcon ADC low-temperature actuators are designed for use in temperature ranges extending to –40°F without the need for an internal heater and include battery backup. The battery can be automatically recharged at temperatures as low as –20°F and has an operating life up to 5 years. These quarter-turn electric actuators are suitable for remote solar-powered installations and were designed for torque requirements up to 3000 in.-lb. in a total package weight of 31 lb. Metso Automation (Northborough, Mass.).

The SC400™ series, a new line of handheld colorimeters, includes waterproof, single-parameter instruments for laboratory and field testing. Available in four parameters, the colorimeters feature 16-set data logging and a user calibration mode. Units are designed to float in water. The SC400 chlorine kit includes reagents for 200 tests, a carrying case, a 9-volt battery, and four sample cells. Severn Trent Services (Fort Washington, Pa.).

These regenerative thermal oxidizers (RTOs) are used to abate volatile organic compounds and odors. They include a patented FLEXERAMIC® ceramic structured packing designed to resist siloxane clogging and maximize RTO uptime. Koch Knight LLC (East Canton, Ohio).

The Pluvio2 sensor is designed to accurately measure precipitation regardless of the intensity of rainfall, with a measurement range of 0.1 to 30 mm/min. It also was designed to provide a measurement range of –40°C to 60°C. Each sensor is individually temperature-calibrated and designed to require only an annual maintenance check. Apparatus Kits
Xenosep® solid-phase extraction (SPE) systems are designed to filter wastewater samples, remove trapped oil and grease from SPE filters with hexane, dewater or concentrate the extract, and determine the residual analyte weight. Each system is an apparatus kit containing leakproof glassware and a starter supply of related items to perform 24 EPA Method 1664A tests, including SPE filters, sodium sulfate columns, aluminum weighing pans, transfer pipettes, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Method 1664A standard. Hach Co. (Loveland, Colo.).

These quick-acting vises were designed with a trigger for fast adjustment to objects of all sizes. A 360-degree steel swivel base was included to increase adjustability of the vises. The vises are available in model numbers XF-45 at 4.5 in. and XF-50 at 5 in. The vises also feature a jaw-alignment system, large-capacity forged-pipe jaws, and steel-handle antipinch rings. Membrane Bioreactor and Activated Sludge Process
The PuraM membrane bioreactor is a pre-engineered activated sludge bioreactor process incorporating ultrafiltration membranes. The PuraMax s an attached growth activated sludge process incorporating plastic media to treat residential and high strength wastewater. Bord na Mona (Ireland).

Thermal Treatment System
The Pyrobustor® system is a two-stage process for the thermal treatment of biosolids: pyrolysis in a proprietary rotary drum followed by a post-combustion system. The system is designed to treat biosolids streams up to 1 dry ton/hr. It works in conjunction with a dryer system to provide a 10:1 volume or mass reduction of dewatered biosolids. Data Logger
The Data-at-a-Glance pressure data logger features a min/max display, is submersible, and is designed for fast data downloading by using flash memory cards and USB-enabled data downloading. The data logger also features a 1-sec sampling rate. Models are available for 0–100 psi, 0–300 psi, and 0–500 psi. Dickson Co. (Addison, Ill.).

Ground Fault Display
The 3-Phase Ground Fault Display provides detection and indication of the phase of the first ground fault condition on an underground or isolated system. This is designed to enable corrective action to avoid the potential hazards from a second ground fault. With a nominal 3-phase line voltage applied, a flashing LED indicates a positive fault condition of either a phase-to-ground fault or a lost connection to the corresponding phase. The expanded Morin Scotch-yoke product line includes “extended torque” actuators that are designed to generate torque in excess of 1 million lb/in., and can operate valves up to 108 in. in size depending on service conditions. The line includes pneumatic and hydraulic quarter-turn actuators. Tyco Flow Control (Princeton, N.J.).

Tank Covers
Tank Top™ covers are custom-manufactured from industrial-grade materials to fit the profile of new or existing wastewater treatment tanks or potable water tanks. The structurally supported membrane tank covers are designed to prevent potable water contamination and contain odors. Aluminum extrusions and a high-strength membrane provide structural integrity for winds up to 110 mph and snow loads up to 35 lb/ft2.  Aluminum framed hatches allow easy access to the tank for service, monitoring, and testing. Environetics Inc. (Lockport, Ill.).

Handheld Dissolved Oxygen Meter
The digital ProODOTM optical-based dissolved oxygen (DO) handheld instrument features field-durable cables, MS-8 (military spec) connectors, and a backlit display and keypad. It allows users to reduce or eliminate membrane changes, calibrations, stirring dependence, and interferences. The meter is suitable for wastewater DO sampling applications in the field, and the probe also is tapered to fit into a standard 300-mL biochemical oxygen demand bottle in the laboratory. YSI (Yellow Springs, Ohio).

The RDO Pro dissolved oxygen sensor is designed to offer resistance to both photo bleaching and abrasion by aggressive process media. RDO Pro includes “smart sensor” technology. Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. (Menomonee Falls, Wis.).

Butterfly Valves
The BYB industrial butterfly valves features a one-piece plastic body designed to stand up to high flow rates and elevated stress conditions. Lever-operated valves are available in 2 in.–8 in. polyvinyl chloride; chlorinated polyvinyl chloride; PPL®; and polyvinylidene fluoride bodies with chlorinated polyvinyl chloride, PPL®, and polyvinylidene fluoride discs. The 14 in.–24 in. sizes are available in the same body and disc materials and feature a high torque gear box. Options include gear boxes on the smaller sizes, stainless steel lugs on all sizes, and electric or pneumatic actuation. Hayward Flow Control Systems (Clemmons, N.C.).
