Workshop A: Codigestion of High Strength Organic Wastes at Municipal WWTPsSunday, May 22, 2011 | 8:30am - 5:00pm
The overarching objective of this workshop is to provide the audience the current state of knowledge on existing codigestion programs, and provide them with the tools to understand the applicability of codigestion to their facilities.
Workshop B: Managing Nutrients at Biosolids Land Application SitesSunday, May 22, 2011 | 9:00am - 12:00pm
We will address the needs of decision makers who deal with biosolids land application and provide a comprehensive understanding of the fundamentals of biosolids land application practices with a focus on nutrient management.
Workshop C: Biosolids Gasification and Energy Recovery SystemsSunday, May 22, 2011 | 9:00am - 12:00pm
We will introduce the fundamentals of the gasification process and compares two stage gasification and close coupled gasification systems as methods of energy recovery and power generation from syngas.
Workshop D: Applying Bioassays to BiosolidsSunday, May 22, 2011 | 9:00am - 12:00pm
For the past ten years, hundreds of research studies have focused on specific contaminants or suites of contaminants in biosolids. That research has led to the understanding that there are many synthetic and natural chemicals present in biosolids in trace amounts (low mg/kg or less), including some of concern with regards to persistence in soils and possible acute toxicity or endocrine disruption potential. This workshop will focus on the most recent research by exploring the fate of some of these contaminants in the soil environment after biosolids are land applied via bioassays.
Tour: Sacramento Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant (SRWTP) and Synagro Biosolids Recycling Facility (BRF)TourTuesday, May 24, 2011 | 1:00pm - 5:00pm
This tour will visit the DAF and GBT thickening of WAS and four generations of anaerobic digesters. This will be followed by a visit to the Solids Storage Basins (SSBs) which are sludge storage ponds that are an integral part of the treatment process with odor control measures and harvesting dredges that achieve up to 50% additional solids destruction.
