On Red Rubber Balls and the OGS

Earlier this summer, I had the pleasure of talking with Kevin Carroll, our Opening General Session speaker for WEFTEC 2013 ® in Chicago. Based on that conversation, we are in for a real treat at this year’s OGS! I say that because Kevin’s message resonated strongly with me in a very personal way, and I think it will inspire and amaze everyone who attends this session.

Thirty years ago I was dismantling a defunct water treatment plant, and now I manage one of the largest wastewater treatment plants in Ontario. A childhood curiosity for discovering how things work and finding new ways to improve them has everything to do with my career path. I’m fascinated by wastewater treatment, the complex systems, and the opportunity to find innovative ways to improve the process and continually produce the cleanest water possible. Everyone has something inside that can inspire them to greater levels of success than they ever imagined, the trick is finding that ‘something’. And that’s where Kevin Carroll can help you.

Kevin is a motivational speaker with an impressive list of clients who has authored several books related to his concept of the ‘red rubber ball’ or activity which brings joy and fuels the imagination to dream big. Discover your red rubber ball, and you tap into energy, resourcefulness, and creative agility, and work becomes play. Pursue your red rubber for a lifetime of joy and success.

There’s much more to this concept and to Kevin than I can explain in a short blog. But I must add that he promises to adapt his inspirational message for the WEFTEC audience and help them be even more successful in their essential roles as water professionals. Check out Kevin in action and you’ll get an idea of what he can do. Meanwhile, I’ll pack my rubber ball up for Chicago and hope to see you there!
