Currently we operate an 11 mile long force main that experiences large amounts of air exchange throughout the pipe, which is managed through a combination of Air release/Vacuum Release Valves. The rolling terrain along the force main requires large amounts of these valves. Odor Control has become a matter of concern therefore we are considering flow control vavles to limit the need for and the quantitiy of ARV/VRV's. Does anybody know of a sewage collection system that operates in this matter (i.e. rolling terrain, large diameter force main)? We are interested in opinions of the effectiveness of this approach.

Andrew, We just worked on a project for York Co. SC. They have 8" VRV's & had many odor complaints. Their fix in some cases were to turn them off. Wager Co. (Sewer Vent Valves) has valves that work with these ARV's & VRV's in eliminating the odor. David is head of operations for York Co. Public Works. Hope this helps !!
