Hi!
I work for a city facility.
We have an issue with a specific industry who is discharging isopropanol in their watewater. They tried to use other products to replace isopropanol, but there is no solution so far.
Concentration in isopropanol (IPA) in their wastewater is in the vicinity of 500mg/L. Their COD is 1800mg/L (a big part come from IPA).
They told us that there is no pre-treatment available to reduce IPA before discharging in the sewer.
The maximum concentration to discharge in the sewer is 200mg/L.
Is there any pretreatment for IPA?
Thanks for your help!

Why can't they use air stripping/scrubbing or salt addition? These are the result of a quick online search. Maybe they aren't being up front with you. It is the industry's responsibility to reduce their discharge to 200 mg/l, not yours to figure it out for them.
