Water Is Life, and Infrastructure Makes It Happen™

is a program designed to assist water and wastewater service providers in communicating the value of our nation’s water and wastewater infrastructure.

The initiative is an on-going public education program of the Water Environment Federation (WEF) with support from the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA).

Mayor Daley to Deliver Special Keynote Address at WEFTEC in Chicago

Water Is Life Featured Session #16, Monday, October 20, 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 noon 

The Honorable Mayor Richard M. Daley will be the culminating highlight of a special session on infrastructure and sustainability which begins tomorrow at 8:30 am in Room S406a, McCormick Place.  Mayor Daley, who has recently unveiled the Chicago Climate Action Plan, will share the roadmap to the city’s sustainable future in his keynote address, “Making Chicago a Global Leader on Water and Sustainability.”  Join us to discuss the water sector’s role in meeting the challenges ahead! 

Prior to Mayor Daley’s presentation, national experts including the Hon. Ben Grumbles (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency); Ken Kirk (National Association of Clean Water Agencies), Richard Lanyon (Chicago Greater Metropolitan Water Reclamation District), Adam Zabinski (Water Environment Federation) and Sandy Allen (New York State Sustainable Infrastructure Funding Program) will discuss the urgent need for water and wastewater infrastructure funding and what can be done to meet the challenge at “Fees, Finance, and the Future: Water Is Life, and Infrastructure Makes It Happen—PAYS OFF.”


 

Liquid Assets The Story of Water Infrastructure will begin airing October 1 on a public television station near you.  The 90 minute, $1 million documentary project produced by Penn State Public Broadcasting highlights the current state of our nation’s essential water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure.  You can help maximize viewership for Liquid Assets by contacting your local PBS station to encourage them to run it during popular programming hours.  Click here to see a list of stations that have committed to running the program as of 9/12.


DVD Outreach Kits
