Developing Source Control Programs for Commercial and Industrial Wastewater
Order No.: MM2004

Covers: identification of sources of problematic wastewater, legal authorities, program implementation, information and record-keeping management, monitoring of sources, administration of compliance programs, wastewater sampling and flow measurement, analysis of samples, setting pollutant limits, source wastewater reduction and treatment technologies, safety, emergency response, and program quality management and assurance. 382 pages. Hard cover.

Controlling Dental Facility Discharges in Wastewater
Order No.: P09102

Provides municipal wastewater utilities with information about wastes such as mercury, photochemicals, and disinfectants that are discharged from dental facilities. The publication also raises dental facilities' level of awareness about source control strategies effective not only in preventing these wastes from entering the treatment system, but helping individual offices reduce their raw material and hazardous waste management costs. Includes a case study of successful mercury discharge reduction for reference. This document gives a technical and administrative background, with ideas and examples for a source control program. 72 pages. Soft cover.

Controlling Industrial Laundry Discharges in Wastewater

Order No.: P09103

Report for wastewater treatment plants and industries providing guidance on how to control discharges from industrial laundries. The publication distinguishes between industrial and commercial laundries and the wastewater characteristics from these facilities. Sections include best management practices, pollution prevention, setting up a source control program, and case studies. 112 pages. Soft cover.

Controlling Dry Cleaner Discharges in Wastewater: How to Develop and Administer a Source Control Program

Order No.: P05127

Guide for management, technical professionals, inspectors, and operators at wastewater treatment facilities and at dry cleaning establishments for the development of source control programs for perchloroethylene used in dry cleaning. Describes the dry cleaning industry in the US and offers a framework for the development and implementation of source control programs by wastewater treatment plants. 66 pages. Soft cover.

Controlling Vehicle Service Facility Discharges in Wastewater: How to Develop and Administer a Source Control Program
Order No.: P15135

Guidance document includes case studies, defines vehicle service facilities, identifies activities and pollutants of concern, recommends source controls or best management practices and describes the development of, and elements in, a source control program. 108 pages. Soft cover.

Controlling Silver Discharges in Wastewater
Order No.: P04116

Silver discharges can present problems for wastewater treatment plants with permit limitations for silver. Low levels of silver can inhibit, pass through, or concentrate in sludge in publicly owned treatment works (POTWs) such that discharge or sludge disposal standards are contravened. Identifies sources and source control measures, including best management practices (BMPs), recovery methods and other treatment methods. 86 pages. Soft cover.

United States Environmental Protection Agency Publications

Industry Sector Notebooks
The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has developed a series of industry sector notebooks on selected major industries. These notebooks, which focus on key indicators that holistically present air, water and land pollutant release data, have been thoroughly reviewed by experts from both inside and outside the EPA. Each Notebook brings comprehensive, well-researched details gathered for the first time in a single source and includes:

  • Comprehensive environmental profile
  • Industrial process information
  • Pollution prevention techniques
  • Pollutant release data
  • Regulatory requirements
  • Description of research methodology
  • Compliance/enforcement history
  • Government and industry partnerships
  • Innovative programs
  • Contact names
  • Bibliographic references
