Water is the root of life at any place. It is the engine that pushes industry, agriculture, economy, and services. Water affects many aspects of life and life without water is hard.

I was born and raised in one of the most beautiful countries in the world, Jordan. A developing country, Jordan is one of the top ten poorest countries in the world in terms of drinking water resources.

WEF Acquires International Publication

On Jan. 17, the Water Environment Federation (WEF; Alexandria, Va.), announced the acquisition of World Water & Environmental Engineering from Faversham House Group Ltd. (FHG; Surrey, U.K.), and the subsequent formation of WEF Publishing UK Limited (WEFP).

Located in central London, WEFP will publish the magazine bi-monthly, and eventually expand into a full-service publishing company to produce and market WEF technical and educational products in Europe. The publication will focus on water quality issues in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, the United States, and Asia, and will be distributed to more than 10,000 water and wastewater professionals worldwide. WEFP will begin publishing the magazine in March. Read more.

The Water Environment Federation joined with Earth Conservation Corps to host World Water Monitoring Day™ 2006 Oct. 18 on the Anacostia River in Washington, D.C. Ben Grumbles, Assistant Administrator for U.S. EPA’s Office of Water, led local dignitaries, water quality professionals, environmental groups, and 40 students from Washington, D.C.-based Ketchum Elementary School in hands-on testing of the river’s water quality.
