General Awareness Training on Water Sector Interdependencies

WEF, through a cooperative agreement with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), is offering a training program focused on the interdependencies among the water sector and other critical sectors including energy, information technology, and transportation.

Beginning in October through early 2009, WEF will offer three pilot training sessions and, upon approval from DHS, seven regional training sessions. The three confirmed pilot sessions include the following:

  • October 14-15, 2008 in Chicago, Ill.
  • November 5-6, 2008 in San Francisco, Calif.
  • January 7-8, 2009 in Atlanta, Ga.

The training will be provided at no-cost to eligible participants including water and wastewater (water sector) utility executives and managers, as well as lead representatives from other sectors. In addition, WEF will provide hotel accommodations for up to two nights for qualified participants and limited travel reimbursement may be available upon request. Registration is limited and interested parties are encouraged to apply for one of the three pilot training sessions as soon as possible.
