Water Environment Federation (WEF) Names Pamela Wolfe as Editor-in-Chief of World Water & Environmental Engineering

Alexandria, Va. – The Water Environment Federation (WEF), a U.S. based not-for-profit technical and educational organization, has named Pamela Wolfe editor-in-chief of World Water & Environmental Engineering, a bi-monthly international water quality magazine acquired by the Federation in January.

"As a well-respected editor in the water quality industry, Pamela is a great complement to WEF’s editorial family, staff, and mix of high quality publications,” said Jack Benson, WEF’s Chief Commercial Officer. “We look forward to utilizing her talents to grow World Water & Environmental Engineering into the go-to resource for the international water quality community.”

A seasoned journalist and editor with over 20 years of experience, Ms. Wolfe is a well-known professional within the international water industry. As editor-in-chief she will be responsible for developing the magazine into an international and scholarly resource for practicing engineers, scientists and academia. The high quality content will focus on the latest water quality and supply issues (technical, policy, and fiscal) affecting Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas.

Prior to joining WEF, Ms. Wolfe served as the managing editor of the industry publication Water & Wastewater International for 21 years. In this position, she was responsible for all editorial content and contributing a regular column in each issue on industry trends and global water challenges and initiatives.  As chairperson of conference advisory committees, she was involved in developing conference themes and technical/strategic session agendas for international conferences in Asia and Europe, which required working with water experts in government, private industry, and research organizations.

Formally acquired from Faversham House Group Ltd. Surrey, UK on January 17, the magazine is distributed to over 10,000 water quality professionals throughout Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas. Beginning in March, it will couple with WEF’s flagship publication, Water Environment & Technology (WE&T), to provide up-to-date technical and educational resources to the growing global water quality community.

To further cement its international presence, WEF also formed London-based WEF Publishing UK Limited (WEFP), a wholly-owned and for-profit subsidiary of WEF. In addition to publishing World Water & Environmental Engineering, WEFP will eventually expand into a full-service publishing company to produce and market WEF technical and educational products in Europe.

Formed in 1928, the Water Environment Federation has 32,000 individual members and 80 affiliated Membership Associations representing an additional 50,000 water quality professionals throughout the world. In addition to its numerous educational programs, technical training materials and publications, the Federation is perhaps best known as the creator and sponsor of WEFTEC®, the world’s largest annual water quality event.
