NEW ORLEANS-AREA TEACHERS "GO TO THE SOURCE" ON WATER QUALITY

2004 Marks the 10th Anniversary for the Annual, Award-Winning Event

Alexandria, VA - New Orleans and Jefferson Parish high school science teachers will be treated to the water-training event of the year at the full-day, hands-on 10th Annual WEFTeach “Go to the Source on Water Quality” workshop. The award-winning WEFTeach will be held Tuesday, October 5 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center and will launch the award-winning Sewer Science mobile laboratory program for New Orleans-area classrooms.

Fifty New Orleans-area school representatives will learn how to operate Sewer Science, a mini wastewater treatment plant that offers real-life experience with specially designed tanks and laboratory analytical equipment. All materials, including individual teacher and student workbooks, are included. This mobile laboratory will be exclusive to high schools of WEFTeach participants throughout the 2004-2005 school year. The Louisiana Water Environment Association, Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans and the Jefferson Parish Department of Environmental Affairs will facilitate the program.

WEFTeach is sponsored by the Water Environment Federation and hosted by the Louisiana Water Environment Association with financial support from The Coca-Cola Company, Montgomery Watson Harza, Weston Solutions, Inc., Bayou Land RC&D Council and the Louisiana Engineering Advancement Program.

WEFTeach will take place during WEFTEC®.04, the Water Environment Federation’s 77th annual technical conference and exhibition. WEFTEC.04 will feature over 15,000 of the world’s leading water quality experts and over 800 exhibiting companies for five days of technical education, information exchange and networking opportunities.
