Discussion Paper (pdf)
MESSAGE FROM WEF PRESIDENT ADAM ZABINSKI:
At the November Board of Trustees meeting, the Board expressed interest in engaging Member Associations in a dialogue on greater alignment of WEF and Member Associations. The idea is to examine our individual and collective strengths and the various challenges facing us, and identify opportunities to advance our mission with benefits to WEF, MAs, and the membership as a whole.
A discussion paper on this topic, prepared by WEF Executive Director Bill Bertera is attached, and is intended to stimulate ideas and discussions toward maximizing synergy between WEF and the Member Associations. This paper provides preliminary background and outlines some of the questions for discussion, however offers no conclusions or recommendations.
The House of Delegates (House) is uniquely positioned to lead these discussions as it is comprised of leaders from all of the Member Associations and other WEF membership constituencies. The discussion paper has been transmitted to the House and the House has been asked, through Speaker Deborah Houdeshell to hold discussions and to bring recommendations to the Board of Trustees. Speaker Houdeshell and the House Steering Committee will establish and communicate a plan for House discussions.
WEF is growing, and our approach to carrying out our mission is evolving. The Board recognizes the importance of WEF Member Associations both in our structure and our ability to deliver on mission elements. We seek ways to maximize the synergy and efficiency that can be achieved through working in concert.
I hope you will be interested in engaging in this most important and timely topic and that you will share your thoughts and ideas with your House of Delegates representative(s). There has been much discussion over the years, and I believe it is now time for action. If I may be of assistance, please contact me. azabinski@wef.org
