Welcome to WEFLeader, your monthly resource for WEF news
Student Chapter Annual Report New student chapters in 2008 have been formed in Ontario, South Dakota and New York. Students, faculty, and MA Leaders are working to keep the pipeline open, get students connected to WEF and MAs, and provide a bridge of understanding of the benefits of being apart of an organization. In May of each year, Student Chapters are required to submit a annual report to WEF and their respective Member Association. Please reach out to your Student Chapters to encourage them to submit their report. These reports provide good information and insight on what is important to our student members. Submit report to Dianne Crilley.
World Water Monitoring Day; Everbody's doing it! The WEF Public Communications program World Water Monitoring Day is actively recruiting new partners. MAs in Florida, Indiana, the Pacific Northwest, and South Carolina have already signed on – several others are also onboard. Don’t miss out on this very fun, very hands-on opportunity to personally connect students, teachers, scouts, and other community groups with their local water resources. Get involved now by calling 703.535.5264 or send an email.

WEF House of Delegates(HOD) The HOD WEF/MA Relationships work group will ask MAs for input in gathering information for a survey to come out soon from the HOD by way of your WEF Delegate. The survey will focus on questions 1,3, and 5 of the Association Relationship Discussion Paper that WEF President Adam Zabinski sent out previously to MA Leaders. Once you receive the survey, the HOD encourages you to discuss it with your Board and filter back your comments to WEF through your Delegate. Your input is necessary and valued. Work with your Delegate whose responsibility is to be the MA voice to WEF.
WEF Long Range Planning Committee The Board evaluated the role of the Long Range Planning Committee and voted to recommend a modification to the WEF Constitution and Bylaws to eliminate the Committee. The Board Membership and External Relations working group will evaluate the need for assistance in implementation and management of the WEF strategic plan and, should a need be defined recommend an appropriate structure to address the need. The Board of Trustees is the governing body of WEF with responsibility and authority for WEF strategic direction. The House of Delegates is the representative and deliberative body of WEF and is responsible to advise the Board on strategic direction and on policies and initiatives of the Federation.

Pacific Northwest Clean Water Association (PNCWA) Water Quality Professionals work hard to protect our waters, but are often not recognized in the same manner as more familiar public heroes as our police and firefighters. PNCWA created the Silent Heroes program to recognize the wonderful work being done by the water quality professionals in keeping water safe for the people of Washington, Oregon and Idaho. Nominees do not have to be a member of PNCWA. The focus of this program is to let people know that there are heroes in all areas of the water profession. Operators, engineers, consultants, manufacturers, and regulators each day tirelessly work to provide safe water to not just one person, or a few people, but to thousands plus. Find out more about the Silent Heroes program and how you too can adopt this program in your community. |
