Presentation: AWWMA will be hosting the US Stockholm Junior Water Prize competition in 2009. Information on hosting was addressed and encouraged MAs to think about getting involved in hosting a future SJWP competition.

Atlantic Canada Water Works Association

Presentation: ACWWA continues to respond to the challenge of technological change and government restraint and regulations through continued education programs. The International Water Association (IWA) conducted a International Specialists Conference supported by WEF and all Canadian Member Associations in Moncton, NB in 2007. The conference was also referred to as the 4th Canadian Organic Residuals and Biosolids Management Conference. This was the first time that a conference of this type combing the technical and managerial aspects of biosolids sustainability has been held at the international level. The ACWWA Board is reviewing the By-Laws to bring on a name change of Atlantic Canada Water and Wastewater Association modeled after the Alaska WWMA C&B.

Presentation: Strategic and Succession Planning, active New Professional Committee focused on professional development, networking and leadership opportunities, liaison with universities, and organizing NP activities. Student Chapter formation has increased with two new chapters for 2008 with two more in process. WEAO is working on providing guidance to chapter, succession plan, and maintenance plan to keep chapters active and effective.

Presentation: Membership has increased by 26% this year resulting in reaching the goal to have a 2nd Delegate. Operations Challenge team has done well over the past few years and has been a positive influence on WEAU winning awards in Safety and 1st in Collection, Best Uniform Award, and took 4th over all. First WEAU student chapter was formed in 2007. An annual sponsorship program offered for consultants and vendors has increased sponsor revenue and eliminates the perception by vendors and consultants that they are being hit up numerous times per year to fund every WEAU event. Set a goal to fight the misperception within association members by reminding and educating them on the vital importance of this industry and the important role we play in supporting the healthy prosperous lifestyles we enjoy. Developing a balance in conferences and training to ALL members.
