The Public Communication and Outreach Committee will develop and support comprehensive education and outreach directed at WEF members, the general public, the media and public policy makers to encourage informed decision making on economic, environmental, public health, operating and social policy issues associated with the water environment. The committee should promote the funding of water and wastewater infrastructure, its development and maintenance as top national and international priorities; create and communicate the understanding of the value of addressing water quality in the context of watersheds and integrated water resources; effectively associate sound water quality and wastewater management with public health priorities; develop and support effective and sustained public information programs to raise the understanding of policy and funding issues associated with effective water resource and wastewater services; communicate that the water and wastewater profession is an integral component of the environmental community.
