The water distribution system is a web of pipes that travels from the treatment plant to each home and business in the community. These pipes make many bends, curves, and turns. They intersect at different angles, and larger pipes feed into smaller pipes. Pipe fitters create the pipes in the right shapes and sizes by:
- cutting and forming metal to follow the template;
- welding and soldering the pipes in the workshop and in the field;
- ensuring that the pipes do not leak at the seams and joints;
- repairing broken or leaking pipes.
