Just as "paramedics" do some of the front line work of doctors, "paralegals" do some of it for lawyers. Paralegals have the opportunity to work closely with the law and the legal system without having attended law school. They help the legal system work more efficiently by:
- reviewing contracts, complaints, and other legal documents;
- preparing papers required by the legal system;
- conducting legal research;
- providing advice and direction to individuals needing counsel (advice).
