Operators use the principles of hydraulics every day in managing
and controlling the various processes within a treatment plant. An operator
may not realize that he or she is applying these principles, yet has a
thorough understanding of them. This webcast is designed to introduce
operators to the basic concepts of hydraulics, as it applies to wastewater,
including force and pressure, static, friction and velocity head, total
dynamic head, friction loss in pipes and channels, pumping basics, and flow
measurements. The presentation will give you a better understanding of how
water flows through the treatment plant and what influences that flow.
Speakers:
- Jeanette Brown, Senior
Scientist, University of Connecticut Department of Chemical, Materials, and
Biomolecular Engineering
