Conference: June 28 – July 1, 2009 Exhibition: June 28-29, 2009
Call for Abstracts is now open! Abstract Submittal Deadline: November 19
Nutrient Removal 2009 will cover the latest experiences in research, design, and operation of nutrient removal systems at municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants through interactive workshops, technical sessions, an exhibition, and facility tours. Water quality degradation continues as a result of stressors, including excess nutrients. While some researchers and operators focus on state-of-the-art approaches, others are grappling with new equipment and operational procedures associated with basic biological nutrient removal. These changes are being evaluated and implemented in an environment of higher energy costs and a need to have more sustainable operations. This conference will bring together perspectives from around the world to discuss and debate the current state of nutrient removal approaches.
The objectives of this conference are to foster discussion and debate on nutrient removal; examine research, design, and operational issues related to nutrient removal; provide a forum for the discussion of policy and management approaches to nutrient control.
The topics covered at this year’s Nutrient Removal Conference include:
- Research issues including: Practical limits of technology/ boundary conditions; biological nitrogen and phosphorus removal developments; chemical addition; phosphorus recovery; and process inhibition
- Operational issues including: Start-up; operational issues associated with compliance; analytical procedures; and process control and optimization
- Design issues including: Process modeling; pilot testing; sustainable practices; various flow sheets; sidestream treatment; and cost/benefit considerations
Professionals who may benefit the most from this conference include:
- Researchers
- Regulators
- Designers
- Manufacturers and Their Representatives
- Municipal Agencies, including Operators and Managers
- Industrial Dischargers
- And others seeking to understand the full picture of the latest developments and practical experiences on this important topic
