Thank you for your interest in submitting an abstract for consideration at a Water Environment Federation (WEF) conference. WEF holds a number of conferences each year. The WEF annual conference and exposition (WEFTEC®) is our largest event, with an average of 500 speakers in 85 technical sessions covering a broad range of topics important to water quality professionals. WEF also has a number of specialty conferences targeted at more focused topics. The specialty conferences typically include 70–120 speakers in 12–20 technical sessions. Details on each conference can be found at WEF’s conference and workshops pages.
The active, open calls for abstracts are listed at the bottom of this page. Abstracts can be submitted for any of these conferences. Please choose the appropriate conference and click on the link to begin submitting your abstract. Please review these important Instructions below.
Filling Out the Form
Please type carefully and proof your abstract before you hit the "submit" button. For specialty conferences, abstract submissions should be 1-2 pages single spaced. If you are submitting for WEFTEC, your abstract needs to be double spaced and 3 pages (minimum) to 6 pages (maximum) including all graphics and supporting information. You will be prompted to attach the file containing your abstract. Please attach the correct file in Word, WordPerfect or PDF format. You will not see your file but you should see the link in the space provided.
The Title of the abstract should be upper and lower case and can include italics and special characters where needed; for example, Kinetics of Steroid Estrogen Degradation by a 17?Estradiol-degrading Culture Novosphingobium tardaugens ARI-1.
In the "All Authors" field, please type the authors' names in the order you would like them to appear, use first initial and middle initial (if appropriate) followed by the last name; for example, S.B. Jones, B. Richards, R. Iran.
Sample abstracts and tips on preparing a successful abstract can be found at Sample Tips.
Completion and Confirmation
After you complete the submittal process, you will be given the opportunity to print your entry. We encourage you to do so. Immediately after submitting, you should see a message that says that your submission was successful. If you do not see that message, please review the submission and try again.
Review and Acceptance
The abstracts will be reviewed by the appropriate WEF committee. The committee will base the selection on the following criteria: Originality; Status; Technical Content; Benefits and Significance; Quality. Details on these criteria can be found at Criteria. WEF committees also avoid placing speakers from the same organization or employer in the same session. The schedule for acceptance for a specific conference can be found on conferences page. You will receive information on your acceptance at the scheduled time. When inquiring about your submission, please reference the corresponding author’s name, the title of the paper, and the conference for which it was submitted.
As a reminder, WEF requires all speakers to register for the conference. WEF also requires manuscripts to be prepared for all accepted presentations at conferences.
If you have any questions, please email to abstracts@wef.org. Thank you for your interest in WEF.
