Design of Urban Stormwater Controls MOP Series
08/09/2012 - 1:00 - 2:30 pm
Introduction:
This webcast series has now passed. Please check the Webcasts page for information on any plans for future offerings. If you are interested in viewing the webcast recordings, please use the following GoToWebinar links under each individual webcast or email webcasts@wef.org. All three webcasts were offered at no-charge.
WEF is proud to present a three-part webcast series to introduce the recently updated stormwater Manual of Practice (MOP) 23, “Design of Urban Stormwater Controls.” This publication was a joint effort between WEF and ASCE to update the last MOP on stormwater, which dates back to 1998. The new MOP is a comprehensive compilation of significant updates in the practice of stormwater management, which has evolved at a rapid pace over the past decade. The project was co-chaired by Dan Medina of Atkins and Christine Pomeroy of the University of Utah, and involved a dedicated team of authors from industry and academia as well as nearly 100 reviewers from a variety of sectors in the stormwater industry. These webcasts will be led by some of the authors who will present the material they developed for the MOP – you’ll get it straight from the source!
Part 1 Webcast
June 14, 2012 1:00 - 2:30 pm Eastern
This webcast will set the stage with a discussion of the impacts of stormwater on the environment as well as a presentation of unit processes and operations, which the MOP supports as a sound basis for stormwater treatment and management. Criteria will be presented to help planners and designers choose appropriate controls so that they provide a reliable stormwater management system tailored to site-specific characteristics and constraints.
Topics:
- Stormwater impacts and performance criteria
- Unit processes and unit operations
- Selection criteria
Speakers:
- Dan Medina, Atkins
- Bill Frost, KCI
There will be 1.5 Professional Development Hours (PDHs) offered for this webcast.
Part 2 Webcast
July 12, 2012 1:00 - 2:30 pm Eastern
The second webcast in this series will focus on design of stormwater controls, including basins, swales and strips, and filters. Recent research related to each control category will be summarized along with background information on the unit processes most closely associated with each practice. Design considerations will be presented along with maintenance efforts required to retain effective performance.
