Arc Flash Hazards and Safety: Training, Protection, and Related Issues

02/24/2010 - Past Webcast

Introduction:

This webcast has now passed.  Please check the Webcasts page for information on any plans for future offerings.  If you are interested in purchasing a CD of a past webcast, please send an email to registration@wef.org.

Treatment facilities typically operate 24/7 with no power shutdowns, requiring electrical equipment to be worked on while it is energized. An arc flash, which can be an arc, explosion, or ball of fire, can occur when there is a failure or short circuit in the electrical equipment. This potential danger to workers requires managerial and worker awareness and training. This webcast was developed to advance that awareness, share lessons-learned by a panel of safety experts, and provide information to address operator and operations exposure to electrical work at water and wastewater plants.

Who Should Attend?

  • Water, wastewater, and industrial plant operations and maintenance personnel
  • Plant design engineers
  • Plant management
  • Safety Managers
